The Perfect Body ......

The Perfect Body....

Who doesn't want to look great? But who wants to put in all of those hours of work in the gym and on the treadmill? And who wants to give up their favourite foods?

I would LOVE to have the perfect body, curves in all the right places, no lumps or bumps. BUT I don't have any aspiration to show it off to a bunch of strangers as those body building/body sculpting females like to do.

I'll admit, I've been, for the past 8 weeks, on a program designed for me by a personal trainer to (possibly) attain that perfect body. I've sweated it out in the gym, I've clocked miles on the treadmill and on the roads. I've eaten all the right foods (most of the time).

And as a result, I have seen some changes. But, I will never become someone who is so single minded that they won't meet friends for a drink and won't have that chocolate "just 'cause I want too"!

I love my food, I love eating out, I love it when my boyfriend cooks for me (usually very bad food too) I love a drink......... I CANNOT and WILL NOT make those so called changes a permanent part of my lifestyle.

I will make SOME changes, for sure. But those changes will be for my health and wellbeing (lower fat to counteract cholesterol, less sugar to ban diabetes etc)

Why has society ingrained into us that we simply cannot live a happy, fulfilled life, unless we are skinny and beautiful? No wonder we all have body issues. Take a look at the fashion magazines. How many of the models look like you or I? What proportion of the population looks that good? Why would you want to be a size zero? Zero means nothing. Wouldn't that just mean you no longer exist?

  1. I reckon focusing on being fit and healthy and keeping things in balance is the way to go - looking your best should hopefully follow.

PS If people didn't swallow the body beautiful message, no one would by the products that keep the multi-billion dollar beauty and weight loss industries in business. It's really just about money.

  2. You are absolutely right! Fitness and weight loss are a multi billion dollar industry. Isn't it funny that if you look closely at the ads on TV, one minute they are advertising Macdonalds, chocolate etc, then the next, weight loss!
