CHOCOLATE .......

OMG, say the word "chocolate" and I start salivating! Where's that beach towel?

I have always been a bit of a chocoholic, and I've probably tried them all. I can be a bit of a chocolate snob at times. I like the good quality stuff, like Belgian chocolate, yummo! And, guess what? I have been to Belgium and have tried the real thing. And, let me tell you, it is better than you can imagine. So creamy, so rich, not too sweet, so decadent. Hmm, I must get back to Belgium one day :)

Imagine being a kid, desperately craving some chocolate, rummaging through the kitchen cupboard for a sniff of that yummy, sweet, dark chunk of pleasure. Only to find that icky cooking chocolate....... which, of course I would always eat!

My chocolate of choice these days seems to be a Time Out. I know, it's just a regular choccie bar, but probably one of the better cheapies out there.

I was lucky enough to work in a chocolate shop once. A Belgian chocolate shop too! Those of you from Melbourne might be familiar with Koko Black (this is not an advertisement, I promise) Their Hot Chocolate would have to be the best I've ever tasted. Lucky for me, I would get a freebie when on shift :)

That was until I went to San Churro in Chapel Street last week. I had a Chili Hot Chocolate. It was divine! Highly recommended. It's a store I will return to for sure. I also had a side of Churro's (Spanish Donuts with melted chocolate to dip into, OMG!)

So much for the diet!

Sun, Sand, Surf......

God, I love summer. The chance to get out in the sun and to enjoy the beach. I love the feeling of the hot rays on my body and being able to throw myself in the ocean to cool off!

I have been lucky enough to travel around the world and during those travels, I have seen the most amazing beaches!

Tahiti would have to be a favourite. The water is so blue and the sand so white. It all seems very pristine. Lovely to be able to walk along the beach barefoot and not worry about standing in rubbish, cigarette buts, needles, bottles etc.

Yes, I agree, Australia has some wonderful beaches but unfortunately, the times I have gone to the beach I have been surrounded by rubbish! It's a disgrace. Don't people have any pride in their country? We are surrounded by so much beauty, yet people show no respect for it!

The ocean would be one of my favourite places in the world. I've dived, and seen amazing fish and coral. I've swum in beautiful waters, both freezing cold and balmy warm. I've baked myself to a crisp many times on white sand, on pebbles and also on black volcanic sand. Just don't wear your best swimsuit when swimming on volcanic beaches! (believe me when I say, it gets in everything)

Swimming in the Murray isn't quite the same, and I certainly would never swim in the Yarra!

Thank god for summer. Winter sucks!

The Perfect Body ......

The Perfect Body....

Who doesn't want to look great? But who wants to put in all of those hours of work in the gym and on the treadmill? And who wants to give up their favourite foods?

I would LOVE to have the perfect body, curves in all the right places, no lumps or bumps. BUT I don't have any aspiration to show it off to a bunch of strangers as those body building/body sculpting females like to do.

I'll admit, I've been, for the past 8 weeks, on a program designed for me by a personal trainer to (possibly) attain that perfect body. I've sweated it out in the gym, I've clocked miles on the treadmill and on the roads. I've eaten all the right foods (most of the time).

And as a result, I have seen some changes. But, I will never become someone who is so single minded that they won't meet friends for a drink and won't have that chocolate "just 'cause I want too"!

I love my food, I love eating out, I love it when my boyfriend cooks for me (usually very bad food too) I love a drink......... I CANNOT and WILL NOT make those so called changes a permanent part of my lifestyle.

I will make SOME changes, for sure. But those changes will be for my health and wellbeing (lower fat to counteract cholesterol, less sugar to ban diabetes etc)

Why has society ingrained into us that we simply cannot live a happy, fulfilled life, unless we are skinny and beautiful? No wonder we all have body issues. Take a look at the fashion magazines. How many of the models look like you or I? What proportion of the population looks that good? Why would you want to be a size zero? Zero means nothing. Wouldn't that just mean you no longer exist?

SHOES .......

Shoes.....

I love shoes, all kinds of shoes, whether they be boots, thongs, sandals, they are a necessity!

But the kind of shoes I love are the kind that I simply cannot afford. I aspire to have in my wardrobe, a pair of each of the following:

Manolo Blahnik

Jimmy Choo

Prada

Gucci

Seems I will need to continue to purchase my weekly Tattslotto ticket!

I also love:

Doc Martens

Camper

Unfortunately I am a shoe whore, or should that just be shoe hoarder. Last week I threw out about 15 pairs of shoes I've kept in storage. Plus I have loads more in my wardrobe. Unfortunately, many of them I can't walk in. I love them to look at, but once I put them on, I walk like a two year old. No coordination whatsoever!

I once had 4 of my favourite Doc Marten boots stolen; by removalists of all people. Sadly I have never gotten around to replacing them. Do you know how hard it is to break in a pair of Docs?

Welcome

Welcome....

So, let's get acquainted shall we?

Call me Possum, if you will. I am a regular girl, living in Melbourne, with so many idiosyncrasies, oddities, quirks if you will.

Let's put it this way, I LOVE THINGS! All THINGS, THINGS that ooze luxury, THINGS that suggest wealth, THINGS that make me feel good. Selfish, I know but I'm finding that I like my THINGS more so now that I can't always have them. You see, it's all about dreaming of what I might do with a few extra dollars in my kitty.

Yes, I know we are a society of selfish people. The more THINGS you have, the more popular you are, the more wealthy you appear, the luckier you must be! Am I right?

Of everything out there, people simply MUST have the newest, biggest and best that money can buy! Yes, we are a society of materialistic wannabes.

Well, I could be one of those people (I''d like to be one of those people), BUT I'm not. So, this is what to expect.....

This will be my LUST LIST. THINGS I want, people I aspire to, how I'd like to look, if I could afford it etc etc. I realise it may not be your cup of tea, but that's the point. It's MY list!

So sit, back, enjoy, love it or hate it, I would love to hear your opinions :)
